The patch head is the core component of the SMT patch machine, responsible for picking up, moving and placing components. The patch head usually contains one or more suction nozzles, picks up components by negative pressure adsorption, and is equipped with a visual system to ensure the accuracy of placement.
Fixed head: usually used on multi-function placement machines, with a robot nozzle and vacuum system, suitable for parts of various sizes.
Vertical rotation/turret head: used on high-speed placement machines, with multiple nozzles, can adjust the angle error during operation to improve placement efficiency.
Combined head: composed of multiple independent heads, suitable for high-precision, low-failure production lines
Pick up components: Take components out of the feeder and prepare for placement.
Place components: Place components accurately on the set position of the circuit board.
Positioning system: Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of placement, usually using servo motor drive and transmission system to ensure high accuracy and stability
First, you need to carefully remove the head from the placement machine. This step requires special caution to avoid unnecessary damage to the equipment.
Next, remove the discarded component box and turn the "HEAD SERVO" switch to the OFF position. After that, continue to remove the nozzle.
Use the manual handle to turn the head between positions 7 and 8. This step is to facilitate subsequent maintenance operations.
Place a mirror on the platform below the head. This is to facilitate finding and operating the screws and improve maintenance efficiency.
Use an M5 trapezoidal hexagon wrench to loosen the valley screw and then remove the head's fixing block. This step requires ensuring that the screw is completely loosened so that the fixing block can be removed smoothly.
Use a wrench to push the slider of the patch head upwards with one hand, and hold the head tightly with the other hand so that it can be slowly pulled out. You need to remain calm and patient during this process to avoid causing additional pressure or damage to the equipment.
Finally, use needle-nosed pliers to press the trachea interface and pull out the trachea to complete the removal process of the patch head.
Wear an anti-static ring: The technician should wear an anti-static ring that has been inspected before operation to ensure that the circuit board is plugged in correctly/mixed, damaged, deformed, scratched, and other defects.
Keep the circuit board clean: The plug-in board of the circuit board needs to prepare electronic materials in advance, and pay attention to the correct polarity and direction of the capacitor.
Use finger cots: For the plug-in of metal components, finger cots must be worn to avoid static electricity and contamination.
Check the quality of materials: The position and direction of the inserted components must be correct, the components should be flat on the board surface, and the components should be elevated to the K-pin position.
Avoid material damage: If the material is found to be inconsistent with the specifications on the SOP and BOM table, it must be reported to the class/team leader in time.
Handle materials with care: The materials must be handled with care, and the PCB boards that have undergone the early process of SMT patch processing must not be dropped to cause damage to the components.
Keep the work surface clean: Staff should clean the work surface before leaving get off work and keep it clean.
Missing parts: Due to nozzle airway obstruction, nozzle damage or incorrect nozzle height, components cannot be properly sucked or placed, resulting in missing parts.
Side parts and flip parts: The nozzle height of the placement machine installation head is incorrect or the placement machine program is set incorrectly, causing the components to flip sideways during the placement process.
Offset: The nozzle is unstable or the placement machine program parameters are set inaccurately, causing the component placement position to deviate from the pad, affecting the welding quality.
Component loss: The nozzle is damaged or the suction air pressure is insufficient, causing the component to be damaged during the placement process.
