Innolume's Broad Area Lasers (BA) play a key role in many fields as multimode light sources. They can provide high output power up to tens of watts, with a wavelength range of 1030 nm to 1330 nm, and have a variety of packaging forms, such as Submount, C-mount, TO-can and fiber-coupled packaging, providing diverse choices for different application scenarios.

2. Application Fields

(i) Medical Field

Laser Therapy: In the field of laser therapy, BA lasers can be used for skin treatment

(ii) Industrial Material Processing

Welding, Brazing and Soldering: In the field of industrial manufacturing, the high power output of BA lasers can be used for welding, brazing and soldering processes of metal materials.

(iii) Pumping Solid-State Lasers and Fiber Lasers

Nd:YAG Laser Pumping: BA lasers are often used as pump sources to provide energy for solid-state lasers (such as Nd:YAG lasers) and fiber lasers. In Nd:YAG lasers, the specific wavelength of light emitted by BA lasers is absorbed by Nd:YAG crystals, causing energy level transitions of particles in the crystals, forming a particle population inversion distribution, and thus generating laser oscillation output.

3. Common fault information

(I) Abnormal power output

Reduced output power: After long-term use of the laser, the internal gain medium may age, resulting in a decrease in the ability to amplify light, thereby reducing the output power.

(II) Wavelength drift

Temperature influence: The laser generates heat when it is working. If the heat dissipation system is poor, the laser temperature will rise and the refractive index of the gain medium will change, resulting in wavelength drift.

(III) Reduced beam quality

Optical component problems: Dust, oil or scratches on the surface of the optical component will cause the laser to scatter or refract during transmission, resulting in irregular spot shape and uneven beam energy distribution, thereby reducing the beam quality.

(IV) The laser cannot be started

Power failure: Loose power plug, damaged power cord, burnt components inside the power module, etc., may cause the laser to be unable to obtain normal power and thus unable to start.

IV. Maintenance methods

(I) Regular cleaning

Optical component cleaning: Clean the optical components inside the laser regularly (recommended at least once a week) using professional optical cleaning tools and reagents.

(III) Regular testing

Power detection: Use a power meter to regularly detect the output power of the laser and establish a power change curve. If the power drops or fluctuates beyond the normal range, please find the cause in time.
